Extracurricular Experiences
Avid
The first organization I was interested was Avid, from what I heard it is very beneficial and impacts you in a huge way. So far in my sophomore year it's going alright, sometimes I feel like it was a waste but it's not like I'm not learning anything at all. My 3rd year in Avid I had to appeal to rejoin, I did get back in but then dropped it at the end of the year. It put more work more than it was helping. Sometimes it takes a little bit more time for people to realize what's important.
French Club
I also joined french club. Actually for french club we all got together to sell chocolates to go to the Santa Cruz france bread little shop, and the boardwalk. It was a great experience to be there with friends, we all spoke french but not as fluent as others.
Basketball
I too, joined the basketball team both freshman year and sophomore year. I didn't end up playing junior year, and senior year due to an injury. Basketball is a way for me to release all the stress I had built up from school. I'm also a competitive person so I'd still be stressed. I love to ball it up and play whenever I get the chance.
Spanish Honors Society
Spanish Honers Society is more of a recognition for your fluency in spanish. It is an honors program, therefore, you must meet the G.P.A requirement to receive an honor cord. Most of the time we do volunteer work to earn some hours.
Book Club
Book Club is a fun club that I am a part of. We have hosted a read-a-thon so far, and have sang to the elderly at the Lindsay Gardens. We hope to participate in more activities. We also eat pizza every Monday! Come Thru!
Team Empower
Team Empower is a handful of learners that want to be involved, and inform visitors all about our PBS system. Our PBS system has been looked at many different parts of the country, they then want to know more, and come see for themselves. We then demonstrate to them how it works from a learner's point of view, and how worthy this program really is. I am thankful to be a part of Team Empower.
School Site Council
I am also honored to have been recommended for the School Site Council. We take into account all the learners struggles and try to find outcomes. All of our thoughts are taken into consideration, and it just makes me feel good, knowing I'm helping find best tools for best results.
