Reflecting back on my 1st Journal in my Senior year I feel like a lot has changed. We are now getting closer and closer to the first semester ending, and more has happened than ever.
I have chose this year to be involved in football, book club, team empower, and the site council for the school. I feel by being involved in my school and out of school, I not only get the knowledge, I get the valuable experience.
Since my last journal I was speaking about football and how I was going to give it all I got because it's my last year. Well that has also now changed, for the worse. It was one extremely sunny day at practice and as we were doing our drills I ended up getting my arm swung and getting nerve damage. My whole arm was numb, they said it would last for about 5 minutes, its been two weeks and it is still numb, I no longer have feeling in my arm. Therefore, I was no longer able to play football due to the healing process failing. I'm going to end up having to do many exams and therapy, but for the time I did play my senior year I wouldn't take anything back.
I also was not able to acquire a job due to a program that I wasn't able to qualify in. With all the expenses of Senior year I guess fundraising would be an option. And too, haven't yet got a car, but I have been driving more frequently with my grandfather.
Furthermore, a fundraising project that I am working towards, is a chance to visit Costa Rica in the summer. I have several months to raise a large amount of money. I feel like this educational trip will just give me the opportunity to venture and explore what I am not familiar seeing. Not only is it broadening my eyes, I am doing it with classmates that I grew up with. I hope I end up fundraising enough money, and receiving this learning experience.
As the end of the first semester is approaching, everything is at stake. There is so much to do in little time, but it's what you do with your time that counts. I have now have more to lose than ever, my eyes are set on the finish line! I am trying my best in my classes, but struggling with a few. Trigonometry and Chemistry I feel are my toughest classes this year, science is not a new struggle, it's been an on-going issue. Even if they are rigorous classes, I'm still dedicated in accomplishing them.
I also took the SAT once, and was about to take it twice but I failed to arrive with all the essential utensils needed. Considering I only took it once, I have I hope that I will get a good score. A good score because that is what is needed for a CSU. As a freshman, I was really influenced by my aunt into attending a UC after high school, but as time went on, I felt like I belonged at a CSU. At this moment I have already applied to 3 CSU'S. One being Cal State San Bernardino, Humboldt State, and Bakersfield State. I hope to get admitted to San Bernardino out of these 3 because it's my top. Bakersfield State is more of a backup, Humboldt I love that it's isolated around nature, and San Bernardino sounds perfect to me. No matter what college I decide on, they all have a great Criminal Justice program.
